Heather + Chris

I had the most wonderful experience with Heather and Chris while photographing their engagement session in early summer.

We bonded over the magic of falling in love, and the romantic optimism that surrounds you as  you open yourself up to someone new.

The sparks these two have are epic, they had trouble keeping their hands of each other and not looking at each other all day. Despite being surrounded by friend and family, they were in their own bubble.

The wedding at Air force Beach provided a stunning background and afterwards we headed to this gorgeous field I had recently scouted but was waiting for just the right people to use it with. The field is wide open, with dreamy light and beautiful trees - it was made for Heather and Chris.

Heather, Chris, you are exactly the reason I love my job.

Heather had a totally vision of her ceremony location, it was perfect -

and there was a bounce-o-rama set up close by, every bride's dream -

We found a stunning pool of light -

Then we played  -

and a little romance -

Summer Drink

I want a margarita, a gin and tonic or a glass of my fave white wine. Instead I am having water, with real cranberry juice  with a dash of  Big D's Honey from the farmer's market - not quite the same, but my imagination is strong.

Ice Cream Sessions

I don't think that anyone would disagree that sessions with ice-cream seem about right this week.

As part of a series I am doing in conjunction with one of my favorite places, Benino Gelato, I am doing a series of portraits with people enjoying ice-cream.

Here the Nasarella family joined in the fun.  Showing up with ice-cream is a surefire way to win the children over right off the bat.

Thanks family, I loved the session and loved our bonding session afterwards!

I never knew egg photography could be so fun

When the computer hit the wall yesterday it seemed like a good time for John, Christine and I to throw some eggs around.

Since I entered into the land of not being able to eat anything (no sugar, wheat or dairy,) eggs and I have become really familiar.  My recent embrace of eggs is making John pretty happy. Seriously, he thinks they are the perfect food. Breakfast-dinner is his specialty and whenever someone is fighitng sickness off in our family he thinks that they need eggs. The amount of eggs we go through in this family is kind of ludicist.

I hope it is okay to share one of his quirks publicly - they do say you like people for who they are and love them for thier quirks.

Until recently I was never a fan of eggs, they kind of grossed me out actually - especially if I had to cook them and especially if I didn't know where they came from.

However, Comox Valley Eggs (which you can pick up so easily, DeeTeeKay are my fave) and I will now live happily ever after.

Can you help me out and let me know your favorite.

man down, man down - well - computer down

Sweltering heat, cold drink by my side, great breakfast - ready to roll on a knock it dead efficient office day. The only one scheduled this week. Gulp.

The computer hard drive had other plans, like calling it quits.

Thank heavens for back-up systems.

So if you are waiting for a sneak peek, or if we are a bit delayed in getting back to you you have to cut us some slack.

We are working on getting it on the up and up - well, our computer tech is while we chill in the yard.

Stay cool folks.

Jen + Chris = Married

Jen and Chris make me laugh, they make everyone laugh, they make each other laugh. So that's what I did last friday I laughed, and well, photographed.

Jen walked down the aisle at the Filberg Park and Lodge to a beaming Chris. They smiled hard through their ceremony surrounded by their family and closest friends, many of whom came from a great distance to be with them - which is always such a testament to the couple/

These two are quick witted, warm and people you would easily trust. I would like it if they moved here so we could hang out!! However, photographing their wedding will have to keep me happy for now.

I am not sure what Jen is looking at here, but I think she looks STUNNING! Jen's parents are very involved in the classic car club and brought all the guest to and from the ceremony in a classic car.

30 days of local food photography - phew

I like to think I can do it all. However, with today's heat it just ins't an option. Thankfully I have a few food photos banked, because a combo of the heat + four hours of errands has left my creativity tapped.

This comes courtesy of 13 year old Mikhayla and I love it.

Day 21 in the eating local food challenge

I have a later wedding today so we hit the farmers market. One of our first stops there is always the pepper lady.

Then of course we played with them.

Carly and Family

Wendy, her hubby and daughter joined me at a little favorite spot of mine on Wendy's birthday for a portrait session. Wendy is an amazing woman and is known in the community for her business Solutions for Seniors Eldercare Planning.  Wendy is a new friend in my life and I feel pretty cool knowing such a smart, funny and charismatic gal.

This first photo moves me. I know when it is my birthday I definitely spend some time thinking about how blessed I am. This photo makes me think of that - feel Wendy's joy at having Carly in her life when I see it.

A little more family love

and the gorgeous Carly, staring us down with those eyes -

Jump in and help the family

I didn't blog a food photo yesterday and I just might not again today. Breath. Yes, I broke the rules, this is not the type of rule I am usually comfortable breaking - totally takes me out of my comfort zone. Because if I say I am going to do something I am going to do it. Seems like a good trait doesn't it? But sometimes it can be a bit annoying.

So my mom came over and we ended up sneaking out to my new favorite place for the so-good-I-could-eat-you-every-day Fish Taco's at Pescadoras AND we went just the two of us and sat and talked JUST THE TWO OF US for an hour and that is what I did instead of shooting and blogging local food.

Today I am off for a wedding and just don't know if I will make it back to the computer.

But, onto other things.

Photography runs in my family. My mom is a well known professional nature photographer and her husband Gerald is quite the photographic artist.

Gerald’s photo of Charles Bridge in Prague has been chosen for the BCAA 2010 calendar and BCAA has requested votes for one of the 12 images to be on the cover.

If you could just take a wee second and hop on over here  http://bit.ly/DZmGI and vote that would be mighty kind of you.

On another note, my sister is a very experienced yoga teacher and is running a workshop at Painters Lodge - their workshops are great value. You can check it out here.
